We are seeking reserve firefighters for 2.07% positions at the fire stations in Brumunddal and Moelv. Reserve firefighters are assigned to a fire station, participate in drills and emergency responses, and fill in on the duty roster in the event of illness or other absences.

The fire response system is based on the premise that crew members have their primary employment with another employer, while living and working near the relevant fire station. When an alarm is triggered, crews are alerted via radio terminals connected to Nødnett.

Applicants are asked to state the distance from both their home and workplace to the relevant fire station in their application. This may be taken into account when evaluating candidates. The required response time upon an alarm is a maximum of four minutes during the day and six minutes at night.

Job Responsibilities:

• Firefighting, including smoke diving
• Emergency pollution response
• Water damage
• Rescue operations, including, among other things, responding with a defibrillator, as well as tasks typically handled by the fire department.

Qualifications:

• Good physical and mental fitness is required to pass the necessary entrance exams and health check for smoke diving.
• Residence and primary workplace must be within a four-minute response time from the relevant fire station.
• A driver’s license valid for at least passenger cars.
• A satisfactory police clearance certificate is required.

The employee must commit to maintaining physical fitness to meet the requirements annually. A Class C driver’s license, a certificate of competence in emergency driving, the Norwegian Fire Academy’s online course in fire protection, and the Norwegian Fire Academy’s basic course for part-time personnel are preferred. Applicants who do not have these qualifications must commit to completing the necessary courses when opportunities are made available. Course fees may be covered by the employer upon agreement.

Salary and compensation:

Salary is paid in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements. Currently, this amounts to NOK 42,000 per year for employees with full seniority. In addition, overtime pay is provided for emergency calls.

When assigned to an on-call schedule, an on-call allowance is also paid, currently ranging from NOK 106,000 to NOK 132,000 per year with full seniority, depending on the on-call schedule.
