Would you like to use your expertise in physical therapy to prevent functional decline, empower residents, and help shape the future of health care in Ringsaker Municipality?
Ringsaker Municipality is strengthening its efforts in prevention, rehabilitation, self-management, and early intervention so that residents can live active and independent lives for as long as possible. We are therefore creating a new physical therapist position with a clear health-promoting and preventive mandate and the opportunity to influence the development of our services.
You will play a central role in developing the municipality’s physical therapy services in the areas of physical activity, function, daily living skills, and fall prevention. Through professional physical therapy examinations and assessments, you will identify early signs of functional decline, clarify needs, and contribute to targeted interventions at the appropriate level. You will also strengthen collaboration between municipal services, volunteer organizations, primary care physicians, the healthy living center, contracted physical therapists, and other partners.
The position combines clinical physical therapy expertise with systematic prevention, professional development, and long-term service development. The work takes place at the individual and group levels and is intended to promote coping, participation, and quality of life, but is not part of routine treatment operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assess the prevalence of and risk for functional decline among older adults, identify unmet needs and geographic disparities, and evaluate where interventions can have the greatest preventive effect.
- Conduct physical therapy consultations, functional assessments, and clinical evaluations of, among other things, mobility, balance, strength, endurance, activity level, and fall risk.
- Provide individually tailored advice and guidance, determine the need for further follow-up, and contribute to measures that strengthen self-management and health literacy.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based group and low-threshold programs in physical activity, strength, balance, coping, and fall prevention, tailored to the target group’s functional level.
- Implement and ensure the quality of the “Strong and Steady” program, including the recruitment and assessment of participants, training and supervision of instructors, adaptation of training, and evaluation.
- Document examinations, assessments, goals, and interventions in relevant professional systems in accordance with requirements for record-keeping, privacy, and professional standards.
- Develop partnerships with volunteer groups and organizations and contribute to the professional development and guidance of volunteer resource persons.
- Participate in interdisciplinary development work in the areas of prevention, rehabilitation, and coping with daily life, and contribute to early intervention, coordinated care pathways, and smooth transitions between services and levels of care.
- Participate in project and development work and translate the municipality’s strategies and identified needs into practical, knowledge-based measures.
Qualifications:
We are looking for someone who has:
- Norwegian licensure as a physical therapist.
- Experience with physical therapy examinations, functional assessment, clinical reasoning, and targeted interventions for older adults, preferably from municipal health services, rehabilitation, or preventive care. Relevant experience is desirable but not required.
- Expertise in or a clear interest in physical activity, exercise science, group interventions, geriatric health, fall prevention, health literacy, and daily living skills.
- Knowledge of relevant assessment and measurement tools for physical function and fall risk.
- Experience with or interest in interdisciplinary collaboration across services and levels.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in Norwegian and good digital skills.
- A Class B driver’s license and the ability to use your own car for work purposes.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience with project, development, or innovation work.
- Experience planning, leading, and evaluating group-based physical therapy programs.
- Experience with volunteer work, networking, or coordination among various stakeholders.
- Advanced training or documented expertise in geriatrics, rehabilitation, public health, fall prevention, physical activity and exercise, clinical physical therapy, health education, or equivalent.
Personal Qualities:
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and are looking for a physical therapist who:
- Is professionally confident and curious and makes independent physical therapy assessments.
- Works in a structured and systematic manner with assessment, goal-setting, documentation, and evaluation.
- Sees opportunities, takes initiative, and translates knowledge, needs, and ideas into concrete preventive measures.
- Motivates, engages, and mentors residents, colleagues, and partners.
- Is development-oriented and motivated by shaping the future of healthcare services together with others.
- Builds trust and fosters strong relationships and networks with diverse people.
We offer:
- A newly created physical therapist position with significant autonomy and the opportunity to influence the content, work methods, and direction of the role.
- The opportunity to combine physical therapy examinations and assessments with prevention, professional development, and service development.
- A strong interdisciplinary environment and collaboration across services and units.
- Varied job responsibilities.
- Salary in accordance with current collective bargaining agreements and good pension and insurance plans.
Would you like to use your physical therapy expertise to identify functional impairments early, promote greater activity, self-reliance, and quality of life for the residents of Ringsaker, and at the same time help shape the services of the future? If so, we look forward to hearing from you.
