Brief description of the position and work location:

The Technical Operations Department is responsible for technical public services such as water supply, sewer systems, municipal roads, waste collection, parks, and green spaces. The department also plays a key role in urban, town, land, and business development. The goal is to ensure a reliable water supply, effective wastewater management, efficient and safe transportation, preserve aesthetic and green spaces, and work to create favorable conditions for businesses and all residents of the municipality. Technical Operations achieves this with a proactive approach; it is results-oriented and collaborates closely with associations, interest groups, the business community, and other municipal departments. The Technical Operations unit consists of 80.5 full-time equivalents, divided among 3 departments and 7 specialized areas.

A full-time (100%) permanent position is available as a skilled worker for outdoor environments, as part of the Roads and Outdoor Environments Department. The Outdoor Environment specialty area is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the municipality’s green spaces, parks, and downtown areas. The specialty area is divided between two supervisors. We are seeking a motivated and proactive skilled worker who will help manage and maintain the municipality’s downtown areas, parks, and green gathering spaces with professional dedication and a commitment to quality.

As a skilled outdoor environment worker, you will:

  • Perform maintenance of parks and green spaces, such as weeding, planting, mowing, watering, pruning, and tree removal.
  • Contribute to the department’s production and installation of structures in connection with seasonal activities.
  • Perform cleanup and maintenance of the municipality’s parks and outdoor areas.
  • Contribute to the work schedule, including weekend work during the summer season.
  • Participate in the development of Ringsaker as an attractive municipality, with a focus on well-maintained and pleasant green spaces.
  • Serve as one of the municipality’s representatives in interactions with the public and visitors.

Qualifications:

  • Trade certificate in landscape gardening, horticulture, or equivalent.
  • Additional vocational school education will be considered a plus.
  • Relevant experience from a landscaping company, park management, contracting, or similar fields may compensate for a lack of formal education.
  • Basic digital skills (using FDV systems, documentation, mapping tools, etc.)
  • Has acceptable oral communication skills in Norwegian.
  • Class B driver’s license (manual transmission); a Class BE license is a plus.
  • Certification for wheel loaders and tractors will be considered a plus.
