About the position

As Head of Negotiations, you will work both operationally and strategically with labor law, development of agreements, negotiations and union relations. You will be responsible for ensuring that labor law issues and interactions with union representatives are handled in an accurate and professional manner with a focus on SSAB's operations within Sweden, while ensuring that agreements and ways of working are developed to support the company's operations and strategic direction.

You will report to the VP Group People & Culture and be responsible for the negotiation team working with labor law and negotiation throughout SSAB's Swedish operations. The work involves many interfaces and requires broad collaboration within the organization with HR colleagues, managers and trade unions.

Your main responsibilities

  • You are SSAB's expert in Swedish employment law with responsibility for qualified specialist support in employment law issues, negotiations and trade union relations.
  • You ensure that trade union cooperation takes place in Sweden in accordance with laws and cooperation agreements and that trade union relations are maintained and developed in a way that contributes to the company's strategy.
  • You lead contract negotiations and take active responsibility for developing agreements to adapt to the business and the company's strategic direction.
  • You lead the team of local negotiators at the major production sites in Sweden and ensure coordination and effective negotiation work in Sweden in order to support the company's operations.
  • You ensure business intelligence linked to labor law, conditions and benefits and present analyzes from an employer perspective. The assignment also includes updating the HR organization and the rest of the business on current labor law laws and agreements and implementing them in the business.
  • You are responsible for providing skills development of the company's managers in labor law.
  • You ensure that there is an overall framework for social and organizational work environment at the Sweden level.


About you

  • Several years of experience in labor law, collective agreements, negotiations and trade union relations.
  • A negotiator who has the ability to be solution-oriented and is good at building and maintaining good relationships.
  • Analytical and creative - able to analyze facts and situations and find creative solutions moving forward. Ability to see issues from a holistic perspective and interest in driving development forward with the perspective of what is best for SSAB as a whole.
  • Clear and consultative in your communication with others.
  • Decisive - dare to make decisions and implement them.
  • Experience in strategic HR work - preferably at management level in a large organization.
  • A graduate degree, preferably in law, or in HR or another field relevant to the position.
  • Since you will work in a global environment and belong to a group-wide global function, it is important that you are fluent in both Swedish and English.
