Are you the one?

Do you want to help shape the future of testing at SSAB Special Steels? We are now looking for a development engineer who wants to contribute to the strategic development of a business that plays a central role in SSAB's climate transition and development of advanced steel products. Location Oxelösund.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

As a development engineer in the Testing department, you work in a central and strategic role where you develop and drive long-term planning, streamlining and quality assurance of the testing business. In the role, you work closely with our three laboratory sections - mechanical testing, chemistry and metallography, but the main focus is on mechanical testing. You contribute to coordinating methods, routines and follow-up to ensure uniform and efficient testing activities.

The role places high demands on independence. You are expected to take your own initiatives, identify needs and create progress. With good judgment, you decide when issues should be reported or escalated to the head of department.

You will assume the role of one of two quality managers within the Testing organization. You will lead and participate in both internal and external development and research projects and follow up on overall test data to support management and improvement work. The role involves broad collaboration within SSAB and with external partners.

Your main responsibilities

  • Quality manager for our accredited activities, ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Drive the strategic development of testing activities with a focus on long-term efficiency, quality and capacity, more operational issues are also included in the role.
  • Coordinate working methods between the laboratories and ensure uniform methods, routines and follow-up.
  • Initiate, lead and participate in internal and external development and research projects.
  • Work independently with personal responsibility for taking initiatives, driving work forward and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Analyze and compile operational data and key figures as a basis for decisions and improvement work.

About you

  • You are a Civil Engineer or have equivalent technical training.
  • You take initiative, work independently and have the judgment to know when issues should be raised or escalated.
  • You have strong analytical skills and a strategic approach.
  • You have good collaboration and communication skills - you drive development through dialogue and collaboration.
  • You have experience in testing, laboratory environment or related technical field.
  • You thrive on working holistically and driving development.
  • You communicate fluently in Swedish and English.
  • If you have experience in quality management and/or ISO/IEC 17025, this is an advantage.
