This is an exciting position where your responsibilities will include troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on our overhead cranes. We look forward to receiving your application. Location: Borlänge.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey we believe is crucial for the planet’s future and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future—in our homes, in the bridges connecting our cities, and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we’re proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we’re aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. That has to change. We have therefore developed the world’s first fossil-free steel production process and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will play a key role in achieving this goal and thereby contribute to the green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the Position

You will be part of a central, operations-oriented department that handles assignments related to our overhead cranes throughout the Borlänge plant. As an electrician in our overhead crane team, you’ll perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance to ensure high availability and the continued development of our overhead cranes. In the overhead crane team, you’ll work independently, usually in teams of two, where you’ll be responsible for preparing, planning, and executing the jobs. The work is regularly performed at heights.

Your main responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and preventive/corrective maintenance on our overhead cranes.
  • Electrical maintenance of overhead crane equipment and its components.
  • Planning and preparation in the IFS maintenance system.
  • Root cause analyses and improvement initiatives.
  • Updating and developing preventive maintenance procedures.

About You

  • We are looking for someone with a high school diploma in electrical engineering, automation, control engineering, or drive systems, or equivalent documented knowledge in electrical engineering.
  • Proficiency in Swedish and English is required, as documentation and communication with suppliers take place in these languages.
  • A Class B driver’s license is required for this position.
  • Previous experience as an industrial electrician or working with overhead cranes is a plus.
  • You are meticulous and organized
  • You enjoy and are capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • You need to be able to take initiative and be a driving force in your work when the situation calls for it.
  • Since you will be working closely with both internal and external colleagues, we are looking for someone who is communicative and feels comfortable reaching out to people in various roles and positions within the organization.
