We are looking for someone who wants to be part of SSAB Luleå’s fire safety team and help achieve the company’s goal of becoming the world’s safest steel company. As a technician with the emergency response team, you’ll be part of a 7-person team that, in various roles, provides support, performs preventive measures, and carries out operational tasks related to fire safety, risk management, and emergency response at SSAB Luleå.
Becoming part of the SSAB family means embarking on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the planet’s future and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future—in our homes, in the bridges that connect our cities, and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we’re proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we’re aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. That has to change. We have therefore developed the world’s first fossil-free steel production process and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will play a key role in achieving this goal and thereby contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.
The team you’ll be working with is responsible for, among other things, the facility’s internal emergency response team, maintenance of fire alarms and suppression systems, and supporting the facility’s systematic risk management efforts.
As a technician with SSAB Emergency Services, you and one of your colleagues will serve as First Responders (FIP) in the internal emergency response team, which means you will be the first resource on the scene during the day for all fire or accident alarms within the industrial area.
In your role, you will also support the facilities technicians and the fire safety coordinator in their work with technical and preventive fire safety measures. You will also assist the fire safety manager by helping to plan and conduct drills for the in-house emergency response team.
The role also includes maintaining and inspecting vehicles and equipment at the fire station.
