Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the planet’s future and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future—in our homes, in the bridges that connect our cities, and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we’re proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we’re aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. That has to change. We have therefore developed the world’s first fossil-free steel production process and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will play a key role in achieving this goal and thereby contribute to the green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the Position

At the coke plant’s gas treatment facility, coke oven gas is cooled and purified through various purification stages, and the byproducts—tar, sulfur, and benzene—are recovered.

As an operator, you will be responsible for one of four areas. The gas treatment unit has four area supervisors who rotate among these areas. You will have excellent opportunities to deepen your expertise in the coking plant’s gas treatment process.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Process monitoring and coordination of purchases and deliveries of process chemicals.
  • Planning and prioritizing maintenance activities.
  • The role also includes participation in various types of projects, as well as work related to environmental, safety, and chemical issues within gas treatment and by-products.
  • Together with the shift team, you will work on continuous process improvements and help ensure that effective improvement proposals are implemented.

About You

  • You have completed high school.
  • Previous experience in a gas treatment process or other process industry is a plus.
  • Your personal qualities are of great importance. You are driven and self-motivated.
  • You have strong communication skills and work well both independently and as part of a team.
