QT Center, Quench Technology Center, is a department within the SSAB Special Steels division that has its core business around the production facilities that produce advanced steels. The SSAB plants that produce this are located in Oxelösund, Mobile, Borlänge and Raahe.

We are now looking for an experienced machine and mechanical designer who can help us design and develop mainly our hardening plants, straightening plants and furnaces. On the drawing board are constantly several opportunities and challenges to be able to produce larger volumes and to produce the next generation of products.

The position will primarily be aimed at existing and future production facilities in Oxelösund (Sweden) and Mobile (USA).

Your main responsibilities

  • Design complex production engineering machines.
  • Plan and organize orders for necessary materials, services and contracts.
  • Active participation in building and/or modifying the facilities with the aim of improving the performance and availability of the unit in the safest possible way.
  • Participate in the safety work of the department/section.
  • Participate in the commissioning of machines and facilities.

About you

  • You have a strong technical background in mechanical engineering, design and calculation of facilities. Preferably with a university degree in mechanical engineering. Can use Inventor/AutoCAD and can find support in both internal/external standards
  • You have a safety mindset based on your own experience and risk assessments based on the Machinery Directive, CE and other ISO standards.
  • You are down-to-earth and can interact/assist our maintenance departments with technical support and support.
  • You thrive in a project-based business where you are open to a dynamic work environment and thus adaptable to changing conditions.
  • Experience in project management is meritorious.
