Är du den rätta?

Would you like to help develop the business and drive it forward through motivational and coaching-style leadership? If so, this could be your next challenge. Now is your chance to take on an interesting role where you can develop both technology and work methods. We are currently seeking an Operations Manager for the Cold Rolling Mill in Kallvals who wants to help shape the future of the steel industry together with their colleagues. Location: Borlänge.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means embarking on a journey. A journey we believe is crucial for the planet’s future and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future—in our homes, in the bridges connecting our cities, and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we’re proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we’re aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. That has to change. We have therefore developed the world’s first fossil-free steel production process and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will play a key role in achieving this goal and thereby contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the Position

Cold Rolling consists of the Pickling, Rolling & Slitting, and Annealing sections. We produce pickled, cold-rolled, and annealed material for internal and external customers. The Rolling & Slitting section consists of the Tandem, Roll Grinding, and Slitting Lines 1 & 2 sections.

We are now seeking an Operations Manager for the Roll Grinding section, where you will work to ensure the section meets its production targets. You will be expected to actively analyze, initiate, and implement activities that improve the section’s production stability.

In your day-to-day work, you will collaborate closely with the section’s management team, maintenance staff, shift crews, purchasing, and process and quality engineers.

You are responsible for delivering results and developing the business in line with SSAB’s strategy and values; and since our goal is to be the world’s safest steel company, safety is an integral part of our daily work.

Your main areas of responsibility

  • Ensure that the section meets its targets for production stability and productivity, and contribute to achieving goals related to strategy, delivery reliability, and the work environment.
  • Analyze, initiate, and implement activities/projects that lead to improvements in the section’s production stability and productivity, and generate investment proposals. Initiate and lead root cause analyses.
  • Responsible for the development and procurement of various types of abrasives, grinding wheels, grinding fluid, bearings, chemicals, and other consumables. In this role, you will also serve as the point of contact for external suppliers

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in developing technology and work methods. You have strong analytical skills and take a structured approach to solving technical problems. You drive your assignments forward and ensure they achieve results.

You thrive in a role where you both work hands-on to handle production disruptions and contribute to long-term improvements.

We’d like to see that you have broad experience working in operations or maintenance.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. You are responsible, proactive, and team-oriented, with a positive attitude. You find it easy to communicate and collaborate with people in various roles and at different levels.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the process or manufacturing industry, preferably with elements of production management
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and stay focused in your work
  • Strong desire to continuously develop technology and work methods
  • Ability to work both operationally to resolve production disruptions and strategically on long-term improvements
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
