Are you looking for opportunities for professional growth within a company with an exciting future? The Steelworks Department is currently seeking a process engineer who will be responsible for monitoring and developing our production process with the aim of achieving high quality, productivity, and operational stability. Location: Luleå.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the planet’s future and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future—in our homes, in the bridges that connect our cities, and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we’re proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we’re aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. That has to change. We have therefore developed the world’s first fossil-free steel production process and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will play a key role in achieving this goal and thereby contribute to the green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the Position

As a process engineer, you will be part of the Process Development and Logistics section, which plays a key role in SSAB Luleå’s production. The section is part of the Steelworks Department, which is responsible for the production of steel billets and associated processes, from desulfurization to continuous casting. The section consists of several process engineers who support production in process- and quality-related matters.

Developing new steels is a challenging task in our efforts to continuously improve quality, productivity, and line availability. Our ambition is to do this while simultaneously developing our employees and organization toward a safe and fulfilling work environment.

Your responsibility as a process engineer is to monitor and develop our process in close collaboration with operators and other production staff; therefore, great importance will be placed on your personal qualities.

  • Investigate and follow up on quality deviations
  • Participate in the development of common work methods
  • Identify and drive improvement activities within process development
  • Participate in process-related investment projects
  • Plan and conduct training for operators

About You

  • You are an open, positive, and responsive team player who collaborates effectively with others through close dialogue.
  • You are analytical and work in a structured, organized manner; you take the initiative and have the ability to plan and manage your own work.
  • You communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and have the ability to influence and engage others.
  • Your personality contributes to a positive and enjoyable work environment, and you have a positive attitude toward change and development.
  • You hold a Master of Science in Engineering with a specialization in metallurgy and the process industry, or an equivalent degree.
