Are you the one?

Would you like to work with risk management in a complex industrial environment and help improve safety at SSAB Luleå? We are currently seeking a Risk Manager for Real Estate & Safety. In this role, you’ll play a key part in our preventive risk management efforts, working alongside the business to identify, manage, and prevent risks. Location: Luleå.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey we believe is crucial for the planet’s future and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future—in our homes, in the bridges connecting our cities, and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we’re proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we’re aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. That has to change. We have therefore developed the world’s first fossil-free steel production process and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will play a key role in achieving this goal and thereby contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

As a Risk Manager, you will be part of Real Estate & Security, a team with diverse expertise that collectively supports the entire business in the area of security. Among other things, the unit is responsible for the company’s internal emergency response team, perimeter security, and maintenance of fire safety equipment, and supports the company’s systematic risk management efforts.

In this role, you will work both strategically and in close collaboration with operations to identify, assess, and manage risks. You will compile and follow up on SSAB Luleå’s risk management efforts and contribute to developing working methods and processes in this area. The role involves frequent interaction and close collaboration with the business, colleagues within the division, and other relevant partners.

This is a varied and rewarding position where you will be a key resource in our ongoing efforts to prevent and manage risks in a complex industrial operation.

Your main responsibilities

  • Identify, monitor, assess, and report risks, and propose measures and procedures to improve safety.
  • Compile and follow up on SSAB Luleå’s risk management efforts based on the division’s common framework.
  • Collaborate with counterparts at other production sites to develop risk management practices within the division.
  • Support the business in risk-related matters, including through projects and training initiatives.
  • Together with colleagues, develop working methods and processes that support the company’s strategies and objectives in this area.

About You

  • You have a post-secondary education with a focus on risk management or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Experience working in process safety, industry, and/or chemical handling is a plus.
  • You have a good command of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • A Class B driver’s license is required.
  • As a person, you are confident, solution-oriented, and organized, while also possessing the flexibility required in a changing business environment.
  • You are driven and have an interest in developing and improving work processes.
  • You are open-minded, positive, and responsive, with a strong ability to collaborate and build good relationships with both internal and external contacts.
