About the position

As a Strategic Buyer, you will be responsible for one or more product group areas. You will work closely with purchasing colleagues and several other functions within SSAB's organization. We are looking for you to develop and establish good relationships with internal customers, such as project managers and other stakeholders, including potential and existing suppliers. The work is independent and with the expectation that you are involved in developing the role and working methods. You will be part of the purchasing organization within Special Steels Oxelösund and report directly to the Head of Strategic Purchasing.

Your main responsibilities

  • Guide, develop and implement SSAB's purchasing processes.
  • Develop purchasing plans for selected areas with associated analyses, conduct procurements, negotiate and conclude agreements and manage business relationships.
  • Evaluate, Approve, and assess supplier performance according to SSAB guidelines
  • Risk management in selected areas from a purchasing perspective, such as sustainability risks.


  • In addition to this:
  • Your location is Oxelösund with some flexibility to work from home when work allows. There is travel involved as you will need to work at other production sites in Sweden and Finland, both physically and digitally. Business travel is part of the job and for you to enjoy this you probably see this as an opportunity.


About you

  • To succeed in this role we believe you are an experienced commercial leader with good communication skills.
  • Experience in business to business with an ability to manage purchasing activities professionally.
  • As a person you are independent, method driven and result oriented which creates structure in your way of working.
  • We work in an environment where change is part of our daily work. The ability to embrace this and not only show flexibility, but also see it as an opportunity to identify and realize new areas of improvement, is crucial for this role.


  • Furthermore,
  • - Advantageously, you have a master's or bachelor's degree in economics, engineering, logistics or law. Alternatively, you have acquired equivalent qualifications or experience in another way.
  • - You will be operating in an international business environment, so we expect you to be somewhat advanced in written and spoken English and Swedish.
  • - You will need professional skills in Microsoft Office as well as general system skills.
