As a private respite caregiver, you provide support and assistance to families who need respite and a break from their challenging daily lives. This is a meaningful and rewarding job that gives you the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and their families, helping them have an easier daily life through a little free time and rest.

Adapted Services organizes private respite care for individuals and families with particularly demanding caregiving responsibilities. We are currently seeking a private respite caregiver for a 10-year-old boy. The respite care will take place at the family’s home and amounts to 20 hours per month.

The position involves personal and practical assistance, and you will be an important source of support in the child’s daily life.

Job Responsibilities

  • As a respite caregiver, you will help organize and participate in activities, daily chores, and regular routines
  • Work hours are agreed upon directly with the family in accordance with the respite care decision.
  • Respite care takes place in the child’s home.

Qualifications

To become a private respite caregiver, you must:

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Have good written and oral communication skills in Norwegian
  • Hold a Class B driver’s license
  • Have a valid police clearance certificate

There is no requirement for formal education, but personal suitability will be strongly emphasized. You can combine your job as a respite caregiver with another job.

Personal Qualities

As a respite caregiver, you are an additional resource and caregiver for the client and their family. It is therefore important that you:

  • have the ability to build good relationships based on security and trust
  • are flexible in accordance with the needs of the client and their family
  • have good communication and collaboration skills
  • enjoy being active and participating in activities

You will serve as an additional caregiver that the family needs, so independence and a sense of responsibility are essential qualities for the family.

You will collaborate with the caregivers on a plan for respite care and report to the municipality as agreed
