We have a vacancy (or vacancies) for a culture school teacher at Stange Culture School and are looking for one or more talented teachers who will contribute to our culture school programs for children and young people.

  • 2 x 25% permanent positions as conductor for the aspirant and junior bands
  • 25% temporary position as conductor for the aspirant and junior bands from August through Easter
  • 25–30% temporary position as brass instructor from August through Easter

Instrumental instruction may also be part of the conductor positions. The positions can be combined or applied for separately.

Stange has a vibrant band community, and the culture school provides services to the municipality’s four school bands, as well as the youth band. Stange Culture School is based in downtown Stange and offers instruction at many locations throughout the municipality. There are currently approximately 380 students and 20 staff members. In addition to instruction in music, dance, theater, and art, the cultural school also administers the Cultural School Bag and the Cultural Walking Stick programs.


Job Responsibilities

  • Training and conducting of aspirants and juniors in school bands (applies to conductor positions)
  • Instrumental instruction for students from beginner to advanced levels (ages 8–19)
  • Recruitment and professional development work
  • Planning, preparation, events, and meetings

Qualifications

  • We are looking for candidates with relevant music and pedagogical education at the college level. Exceptions to the educational requirement may be made if the applicant can demonstrate particularly relevant expertise.
  • Experience teaching students at various levels related to the different aspects of the position (conducting/instrumental instruction)
  • You have strong communication skills, are proficient in Norwegian as a teaching language, and are proficient in digital tools
  • A driver’s license is desirable
  • A valid police clearance certificate is required
