The Municipality of Stange is seeking a community builder to lead and develop its child and youth services. As municipal director, you will be responsible for preschools, schools, child welfare services, the health clinic, Stangehjelpa, and the professional staff. You will play a key role in ensuring that children and youth throughout the municipality have good and safe conditions in which to grow up.
Stange is a municipality with a strong sense of community and great dedication. The municipality is growing, and the needs of its residents are changing. The Child and Youth Services Department is therefore facing important development and restructuring processes. You will set the direction, establish priorities, and ensure that services evolve in line with the municipality’s goals and needs. At the same time, you will contribute to the efficient use of resources, high quality, and effective collaboration among services.
As a municipal manager, you will become part of the municipal director’s leadership team and play a central role in the development of the entire municipality. You will work closely with political leadership, managers, employees, and employee representatives. You will also facilitate effective collaboration with children, youth, parents, and other partners.
We are looking for a clear and confident leader with solid leadership experience and strong professional expertise. You must be able to handle complex issues, build trust, and communicate clearly. You must also be comfortable with change and able to translate goals and decisions into action.
In the coming years, the work will focus particularly on restructuring, better use of resources, quality improvement, and stronger collaboration across disciplines. Job Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the child and youth services division with clear direction, structure, and leadership presence
- Develop leaders and support them in their work
- Monitor and improve outcomes in learning, well-being, and service quality

- Ensure sound financial management and sustainable use of resources
- Strengthen cross-functional collaboration and utilize resources holistically
- Facilitate comprehensive support for children and youth throughout the municipality

- Actively participate in the municipal director’s leadership team and contribute to collective development
- Build trust through open communication with employees, union representatives, politicians, and residents
Qualifications
- Relevant higher education
- Management experience, preferably with responsibility for other managers
- Documented results from the child welfare and education sectors
- Knowledge of public administration and interaction with political bodies
- Understanding of finance and experience with budgeting
- Ability to set direction, develop the sector, and achieve strong results
- Experience with organizational change and development
- Ability to see the big picture throughout the entire childhood and youth
