The government is making historic investments in infrastructure through the municipality of Stange. This presents both opportunities and obligations. In this situation, the municipality is experiencing growth, increased activity, and a need to update its planning framework, including the municipal district plan for Ottestad and other zoning plans.

Stange Municipality is working on high-quality place-making and densification in the municipality’s urban areas. To tackle the tasks ahead, we need a professionally skilled and dedicated land-use planner to join our team!

The land-use planner will be part of the Planning, Construction, and Surveying department. The division currently has 20 employees responsible for services in the areas of planning, GIS, environmental protection, building permit processing, mapping and surveying, as well as property tax. Within the division, there are currently approximately 5 positions associated with the land-use planning service area. This is a multidisciplinary team consisting of landscape architects, land-use planners, natural resource managers, and community planners. There is also close collaboration with the building permits department, which has two architects on its team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Planning and case processing in accordance with the Planning and Building Act, including the review of private proposals, zoning plans, amendments, and municipal sub-plans
  • Preparing political matters for the Planning Committee

Qualifications

  • The position requires relevant education at the bachelor’s or master’s level, preferably as a land-use planner, architect, landscape architect, geographer, or equivalent with land-use planning as part of the curriculum
  • A lack of theoretical education may be compensated for by strong practical expertise in the field of land-use planning
  • Work experience in the field will be emphasized
  • Very good written and oral Norwegian communication skills are a prerequisite
  • Expertise in planning processes under the Planning and Building Act is required
  • Knowledge of public administration is desirable
  • Expertise in architecture, urban design, and densification is desirable
