What you’ll do

Right now, we are looking for a Energy Efficiency Engineer for our Energy & Power Distribution team. In this role you will report to our Head of Energy & Power Distribution  and sit within our Mill Services function. In this role you will help to shape the future of green steel. You'll lead efforts to improve how we use energy across our facilities and production processes. With a mix of technical insight and a passion for sustainability, you’ll drive meaningful improvements that support our broader environmental goals. It's a hands-on opportunity to make a real impact - where data, innovation, and purpose come together.

Specific to this role, the day-to-day tasks will include the following but as we are a growing company with very little silos between teams, other tasks might be included as well:

  • Act as a key user of the Energy Management System and support electricity consumption forecasting.
  • Analyze energy data to identify efficiency opportunities and support energy-saving initiatives.
  • Maintain the facility's energy balance and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Coordinate and manage energy efficiency projects and activities.
  • Monitor electricity market trends and prepare reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Develop performance metrics and present insights clearly to stakeholders.

What you’ll bring

You’re curious and believe that real progress happens when we work together. You’re not afraid to challenge old ways of thinking - and you treat others with respect while doing it. At Stegra, we value people who take initiative, build trust, and help create a workplace where everyone can do their best.

Specific to this role, we would like to see that you can tick off a fair amount of the boxes below:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in energy, electrical engineering, economics, or a related field.
  • Up to 3 years of experience in energy market analysis, pricing, or other data-driven energy roles.
  • Strong grasp of electricity markets, forecasting, and energy efficiency as a cost and strategy tool.
  • Skilled in analyzing market and consumption data to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Proficient in presenting insights clearly through reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with strong communication skills in English (Swedish is a plus).

This is Stegra

Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.

By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.

Our Boden Site
