What you’ll do

We are seeking a Production Manager for our casting section of the steel mill. In this position you will be responsible for building, establishing, and developing the caster in our upcoming steel mill. You'll have five shift managers directly reporting to you and will be overseeing the running of the production line. This role includes taking an active role in creating a safe work environment by participating in the development and maintenance of process control and safety practices. As a production manager, you will be joining the organization in an early stage of the company and will thus be making sure the steel mill gets up and running before the launch of the steel production. You'll be directly reporting to the head of caster.

We're looking for someone who has hands-on practical experience from the casting section. Primarily we're seeking a manager who likes to work closely with the production team and who leads by example from the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Build, establish and develop a robust safety culture across the organization. Take responsibility to contribute to a safe work environment actively participating in the development and upkeep of process control and safety practices.
  • Overall operational responsibility for personnel, HSE, performance and budget within the production department.
  • Lead the organization in achieving goals and objectives and monitor progress toward achieving them.
  • Lead the team, providing mentorship and guidance to Production Supervisors
  • Ensure the organization's compliance with all relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Lead the department`s development of working methods, investment plan and continuous improvements.
  • Follow up operations to ensure efficient, safe and quality controlled processes.
  • Foster an innovative and inclusive organizational culture with focus on continuous improvements and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who has proven hands-on experience in running a casting section. Our ideal candidate would be someone who has started their work in the production as an operator and/or shift manager. Perhaps you're currently in the shift managerial role now and ready to take the next step to production manager or you're already working as a production manager and want to build up a new section from scratch.

We're looking for someone who has

  • Extensive experience from leadership roles in flat sheet steel production with multiple years of experience in the casting section.
  • Practically teach others how to run machines in the casting section
  • Strong understanding of process optimization and lean principles
  • Previous experience and knowledge of SMS-equipment
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools e.g. office suite, maintenance systems, information system, follow-up system and purchase systems
  • Ability to combine long-term thinking with the ongoing work in the department.
  • Excellent leadership skills, ability to develop the group and the department.
  • Fluent in English. Swedish is a plus but not mandatory.
