Application due date 3 July 2026
Are you the one?

Sweco is currently seeking a driven hydrogeologist/groundwater specialist who wants to help develop our infrastructure and civil engineering business. With us, you’ll play a key role in complex and varied projects, where you’ll work alongside dedicated colleagues to help solve both today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. We have exciting assignments waiting for you, and more are on the way.

In the western region, we also have offices in Alingsås, Karlstad, Vänersborg, and Halmstad with openings for new colleagues.

Why work with us?

You’ll be part of the Water Resources group in Gothenburg, where we’re a team of 15 consultants—both experienced and junior—working on a broad and varied portfolio of projects in the groundwater sector for government agencies, industry, and municipalities. With us, you’ll have the opportunity to work in and contribute to a team with a high level of collective technical expertise and a strong sense of curiosity, in an environment where professional development is not just a possibility, but a prerequisite. Sweco has a decentralized organization where we work with a great deal of freedom and take personal responsibility.

With us, you’ll become part of Sweden’s largest network of groundwater consultants, consisting of approximately 80 people. It is an active network dedicated to the exchange of technology and experience, as well as internal training initiatives at our own groundwater academy, of which we are very proud. We hope you’ll join us and contribute to the work of our national technical division to develop our infrastructure and civil engineering business. There are also opportunities for technical development projects aimed at advancing the industry and giving us the time to create something no one else has done.

With us, you’ll have the opportunity to help change society—for real!

About the role

As a senior hydrogeologist at Sweco, you will work as a project manager, technical lead, and/or specialist, which—depending on the role—includes, among other things:

  • Conducting hydrogeological studies at various stages
  • Performing analytical calculations
  • Quality assurance and review
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships and generating new business
  • Participating in the team’s technical and business development

You’ll contribute your expertise throughout the entire project lifecycle—from early stages and investigations to design and implementation. The role involves collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Who we’re looking for—is that you?

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A relevant technical college or university degree with a focus on geology, hydrogeology, or an equivalent field
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in the consulting or contracting industry, with a government agency, or as a client, with a primary focus on hydrogeological issues
  • Experience as a technical advisor and/or specialist on large and small infrastructure and civil engineering projects, preferably including work with permitting for water-related activities.
  • Proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • A Class B driver’s license, which is a requirement for the position

Who you are:

To thrive and succeed in this role, we believe you are:

  • Driven and organized, with the ability to lead and drive progress
  • Committed to your assignments, colleagues, and customer relationships
  • Business-minded in your approach, or eager to develop that perspective
  • Flexible and adaptable in a work environment that is often characterized by change
