Description

The Institute of Space Physics (IRF) and Luleå University of Technology (LTU) plan to perform lidar observations and measurements with balloon-borne particle imagers in the framework of a project aimed at providing observational data for the validation of the European Space Agency's EarthCARE mission. We are looking to hire an early stage researcher for various tasks related to the project.

Duties

• Operation of IRF lidar
• Analysis of lidar data using existing software
• Preparation and execution of B-ICI particle imager launches
• Analysis of B-ICI data
• Interpretation of combined lidar and B-ICI data
• Preparation of publications related to the project

The work includes working at night and evening hours.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in atmospheric physics or a related field deemed relevant by the employer
• Experience in operating both lidar and particle imagers
• Knowledge of python
• Driving license B

Terms and conditions

The position is limited to three months with placement at the head office in Kiruna. The position will start in January 2026. IRF applies individual salary setting.
