Description
The Institute for Space Physics (IRF) is seeking a Research Engineer (50%) to work in the integration and testing of particle detectors for lunar exploration.
The selected candidate will join the Solar System Physics and Space Technology (SSPT) research group at IRF in Kiruna.
The SSPT group at IRF conducts research in space plasma physics by developing instruments for missions to the Moon and other planets, analyzing data from these missions, and conducting computer simulations to study the space environment around celestial bodies in the solar system.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- instrument simulations
- hardware integration
- functional and environmental testing and particle calibrations
- calibration report preparation
Qualifications
Applicants are expected to have a Master's degree in experimental physics, or other degree deemed equivalent by the employer. Experience of laboratory work and simulations of ion optics is meritorious.
Terms
The position is a permanent position of 50% with placement at the head office in Kiruna. Access is immediate. IRF applies individual salary setting.
