We want to become more! The Swerim Metals Research Institute conducts industry-oriented research and development on metals and their path from raw material to finished product. We are 200 employees in two locations in Sweden - Luleå and Stockholm. Our vision is a fossil-free and circular industry. Our heating and processing business is growing and we are now looking for a researcher Our research focuses on contributing to sustainable industry and the digitalization of industry through modelling, measurement and pilot testing. You as a researcher with us As a researcher in heating and machining processes, you work together with our research teams and industrial contacts to develop industrial processes such as rolling, forging, forming and heating. The industry is currently in a transition phase with major investments, such as the establishment of new climate-neutral steel plants and the upgrading of established plants. The focus of the industry is to make these processes sustainable, smart and efficient. The research includes modeling and simulation of the processes, tests and evaluations using our labs and pilot plants. It also includes holding simple training courses as part of our and companies' skills development. The research projects are both long-term projects (often with EU collaboration) but can also be short direct assignments for industry. Project management is an important part of the work where you drive the work forward and are responsible for deliveries, time keeping and project budget. Collaboration with other researchers is also a central part where we value interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange to achieve our common goals. Who are you? We are looking for you who have a relevant master's degree in, for example, mechanical engineering, materials technology, energy technology, engineering physics or similar. You also have experience in model development, programming such as FEM modeling, or have conducted research on basic understanding of industrial processes. It is positive if you have a PhD in a relevant field and highly meritorious if you have experience of working in industry with research and development As a person, you have great personal drive and initiative. You work well together and are responsive to your colleagues and customers. You are communicative and are used to expressing yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English. It is a prerequisite that you can work both individually and in groups and are driven by supporting colleagues with your technical skills and experience.
