We want to become more! The Swerim Metals Research Institute conducts industry-oriented research and development on metals and their path from raw material to finished product. We are 200 employees in two locations in Sweden - Luleå and Stockholm. Our vision is a fossil-free and circular industry.
Are you curious about a career in research and development? At the metal research institute Swerim, you will be part of the work to strengthen the competitiveness of the industry through increased product quality, higher resource efficiency and more sustainable manufacturing processes. Here you are offered the opportunity to work in the borderland between industry and academia where you together drive research for a more sustainable future! Does this sound like something for you?
Our research team in Kista is looking for a new colleague who wants to work with testing and analysis of mechanical properties.
About the job
In the research area of mechanical properties, we develop test methods and perform tests on the strength of materials and components. The work is varied where you as a project manager have a broad responsibility throughout the chain, from customer contact, preparation of project proposals and suitable test methods, implementation of testing, analysis and feedback of the result to the customer, usually in the form of a technical report. You work both in depth in mechanical properties and in breadth with colleagues in related research areas.
As a researcher in mechanical properties, you work in close collaboration with Swedish and international industrial customers, both through direct customer assignments and as partners in various research projects. At Swerim, we are mainly focused on advanced testing in fatigue, fracture mechanics or testing under specific environmental exposure where hydrogen is an important area. You have access to well-equipped labs with advanced test rigs, several of which are unique and optimized for specifically adapted testing and equipped with the latest control software.
About you
You probably have a master's degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering, engineering physics or materials engineering with a focus on strength theory. It is highly advantageous if you have worked for a few years with mechanical testing of materials or components in industry or similar activities. If you have a postgraduate degree in the field, it is also an advantage. You combine good theoretical knowledge with practical skills in a lab environment.
You are curious and enjoy working on developing technical solutions. You find it easy to collaborate, take your own initiatives and express yourself in Swedish and English in both speech and writing.
