Lead research that makes a difference! As a group leader at Swerim, you’ll help develop employees, industry-driven innovation, and sustainable metallurgical processes—from research to real societal benefits. We are growing and are now looking for a group manager for a newly created position—a role where you’ll help develop employees, research, and new industry-driven initiatives. The business area operates within the fields of environment, energy, and metallurgy, with a focus on developing metallurgical processes in close collaboration with industry and with the clear goal of delivering tangible benefits to industry. We are expanding with a research group in metallurgy, with a focus area that complements our current organization. About the Role As a group leader at Swerim, you will play a key role in developing research, business, and employees. You will lead a team of researchers and experts and drive industry-oriented projects in the fields of environment, energy, and metallurgy. The role will also be crucial as the field expands into hydrometallurgy and batteries. You will work in a collaborative environment alongside companies, public sector organizations, universities, and colleges. The group consists of 10–12 researchers and experts with access to well-equipped experimental facilities and close support from technicians. You will report to the Business Area Manager for Metallurgy and collaborate with other group managers to develop operations, business, and future initiatives. We are looking for a leader with a background in research and development, preferably from industry or academia. You are also proactive in initiating, generating, and executing research projects where your scientific background and industry network will be key assets. Who are you? You are an experienced and curious leader with senior-level expertise in a field relevant to the role. You thrive at the intersection of research, industry, and business, and are motivated by turning knowledge into tangible benefits for customers and society. A background in research and experience in initiating, developing, and driving research projects are considered a plus. As a leader, you are humble, communicative, and committed. You build trust, foster relationships, and help people grow through clear direction, involvement, and collaboration. You are driven by strategic work and business development, and by working with colleagues to achieve results that contribute to a sustainable industry. Experience with human resources and workplace safety is a plus, but what matters most is your willingness and ability to lead and develop the team. At Swerim, we view diversity as a strength. Our core values—collaboration, commitment, curiosity, and integrity—shape how we work and grow together. With us, you’ll have great opportunities to grow through assignments that contribute to the sustainable industry of the future. This is a permanent position based in Luleå.
