Within the Pilot and Demo business area at Swerim, we work operationally with the operation and maintenance of pilot and demonstration plants. Swerim has pilot plants for most of the known metallurgical processes, processing equipment, its own hydrogen production plant and plants for reforming the various process gases available in the industry. We rebuild and adapt our facilities to the customer's own conditions and develop pilot-scale processes that can be transferred to the customer's own manufacturing plant. Several new pilot plants are being built in our heating and processing test hall, where the use of hydrogen is a central theme. About the work As a bricklayer with us, you step into a role that is far from traditional. Here, it's not just about bricklaying according to drawings - you're involved in solving real problems in a heavy industrial environment where demands are high and conditions are constantly changing. You work with refractory masonry in everything from production furnaces such as electric arc furnaces and converters to smaller lab and test furnaces. The work spans the entire chain - from preparation and planning to implementation, follow-up and improvement. An important part of the role is the link to our experimental activities. During campaigns, you are part of the team where you contribute to the preparatory, implementation and follow-up work, which means that you get to be involved in real development - not on the side. In addition to the practical work, you also have a responsibility for structure and order. You will ensure that the right materials are available at home, document sets, update drawings and help build knowledge for the future. Collaborate closely with both scientists and engineers. This means that you don't just do the work - you influence how the work is done. Your main tasks
  • Masonry and repair of furnaces of different sizes and processes
  • Preparation, implementation and follow-up of campaigns and experiments
  • Practical problem solving in case of malfunctions and improvements
  • Responsibility for the purchase and stocking of stone, mortar and consumables
  • Documentation of sets and work performed
  • Updating of drawings and technical documentation
  • Participating in the construction and commissioning of new process plants.
Who are you? We are looking for you who:
  • Have experience in masonry, preferably in industry or refractory materials
  • A practical approach and enjoy solving problems
  • Have a good understanding of how equipment and processes work
  • Take responsibility and drive your work forward independently
  • A structured and see the value of documentation and order

Thrive in collaboration with others - both internally and externally

It is advantageous if you have:
  • Experience in refractory masonry
  • Drawing reading and technical documentation
  • Experience from the steel, metal or process industry

The service is a permanent full-time position, with a location in Luleå. Travel may occur and a B driving license is a requirement. Some shift work occurs during shorter periods.
