Within the Pilot and Demo business area at Swerim, we work operationally with the operation and maintenance of pilot and demonstration plants. Swerim has pilot plants for most of the known metallurgical processes, processing equipment, its own hydrogen production plant and plants for reforming the various process gases available in the industry. We rebuild and adapt our plants to the customer's own conditions and develop pilot-scale processes that can be transferred to the customer's own manufacturing plant. About the work For our test halls in Luleå, we are now looking for a committed and self-driven operator who wants to be involved where it really happens - in the middle of the development of the industry of the future. This is not a traditional operator role. With us, you are involved in the entire chain - from planning and preparation to implementation, follow-up and improvement of pilot tests. You'll work closely with researchers and engineers, where your practical understanding and drive will be crucial to making things work in the real world. There are 18 members of the team. The team includes technicians with various specialist skills, operators, mechanics, welders, masons and logistics. Main tasks
  • Plan, prepare and carry out pilot and operational trials
  • Run and monitor equipment in our facilities
  • Participate in rebuilds, installations and improvements
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical problems as they arise
  • Work hands-on with mechanics, equipment and processes
  • Participates in updating, improving instructions and working methods
  • Documents results and contributes to the development of processes
  • Maintains equipment and buildings
Who are you? We are looking for you who:
  • Experience as an operator on furnaces, melting or similar
  • Good practical understanding of equipment and processes
  • Ability to see what needs to be done - and take action
Thrives in collaboration with others - both internally and externally It is advantageous if you have:
  • Experience as a mechanic or process industry
  • Experience working with improvements or development
  • Experience writing instructions or work descriptions

The position is a permanent full-time position based in Luleå. You will be based at our facilities here, with the possibility of occasional travel in the service. Driving license is a requirement. The work is mainly done during the day, but shifts may occur during shorter, planned periods linked to our trials and campaigns.
