We want to become more! The Swerim Metals Research Institute conducts industry-oriented research and development on metals and their path from raw material to finished product. We are 200 employees in two locations in Sweden - Luleå and Stockholm. Our vision is a fossil-free and circular industry.
.
Within the business area Pilot and Demo at the metal research institute Swerim, we work operationally with the operation and maintenance of pilot and demonstration plants. Swerim has pilot plants for most known metallurgical processes, processing technology equipment, an in-house hydrogen production plant and facilities for reforming the various process gases available in the industry.
We rebuild and adapt our facilities to the customer's own conditions and develop pilot-scale processes that can be transferred to the customer's own manufacturing plant. Several new pilot plants are being built in our heating and processing test hall, where the use of hydrogen is a central theme.
About the job
With us, you get a unique opportunity to combine practical mechanical work with problem solving and development. You will work closely with researchers and engineers, where your creativity and practical skills will be crucial in solving technical problems, building solutions and testing whether they work in reality. You'll be part of a team where your day-to-day can vary from participating in advanced pilot tests, developing and rebuilding equipment, analyzing a breakdown and quickly developing a working solution - to helping install brand new process plants.
The halls include heating furnaces, new facilities for industrial gases, test equipment for strength in a high-pressure hydrogen environment, and a large-scale casting unit. There are great opportunities for those who like to tinker, test and find smart ways to solve challenges in practice.

* Have a secondary education in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, toolmaking or equivalent.
* Have experience in machining, mechanical work or maintenance.
* Are creative, practical and enjoy solving problems in a smart and efficient way.
* Finds it challenging to analyze a problem, build a solution and test if it works.
It is an advantage if you have:
* Experience from process or engineering industry.
* Experience of overhead travel and working in heavy industry.
Personal qualities we value:
* Independence, responsibility and ability to drive the work forward.
* Curiosity, ability to cooperate and willingness to learn new things.
