As a Network Technician within Communication & Services, you will be an important part of the team responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of our active broadband network. You work closely with other colleagues to ensure a stable and efficient network environment with high availability and quality for our customers.

Your role in our team In the role of Network Technician, you work operationally with the operation and support of the city network and IoT services. The role is an important part of ensuring the operation of an open city network where several service providers deliver services to Umeå residents and companies. You contribute to the stability, performance and quality of the network and participate in the development of working methods and technical solutions. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Operation and monitoring Monitor the network and handle alarms, incidents and service cases according to established procedures.

  • Troubleshooting and remediation Troubleshoot and resolve network faults at Layer 2/3 level in collaboration with colleagues and suppliers

  • Delivery and configuration Perform service delivery, configuration, upgrades and installations of network infrastructure

  • Documentation and quality Ensure that network maps, documentation and system registers are kept up to date

  • Collaboration and customer issues Manage operational customer issues in collaboration with delivery managers and customer service

  • Improvement work Contribute to the development of processes, standards and working methods for an efficient and qualitative operating environment

We are looking for you who have a strong interest in technology and thrive in an operational role where problem solving and collaboration are a natural part of everyday life. You work in a structured and thorough manner and take great responsibility in your work.

To succeed in the role, you need:

  • Post-secondary education in network engineering, IT, telecom or equivalent work experience

  • Some years of experience working in a city network, IT, telecom or operator environment

  • Experience in operation, support and troubleshooting of networks and active network equipment

  • Good understanding of network engineering and basic knowledge of routing and network segmentation

  • Experience with network monitoring systems, case management and technical documentation

  • Ability to read and interpret network maps, topologies and configuration files

  • B driving license
