Are you the one?

Do you want to develop the industrial systems that the heating and cooling business is based on? We are now looking for a Strategist for Industrial Systems.

By the people of Umeå, for the people of Umeå.

We are an energy and communications company owned by Umeå municipality and everyone who lives here. With safe and accessible solutions, we ensure that a growing Umeå is always heated, lit and connected. By spreading knowledge, running community projects and supporting a vibrant community life, we are helping to shape the future.

Your role in our team

Do you want to take a holistic approach to system assets in a socially important energy business - and set the direction for how our control systems, data and digital solutions develop in the coming years?

The heating and cooling business is in an important development phase with increased digitization and higher demands on structure, security and long-term management. As Industrial Systems Strategist, you will play a central role in developing our industrial systems assets and creating a sustainable structure for the future.

You will be responsible for issues related to lifecycle, strategy, risk, standardization and development in an area that is crucial for both delivery capability and future business.

This role is about creating direction, building structure and driving digitization in the OT domain in a way that supports the business's goals over time.

You will work closely with operations, production, IT, security, projects and purchasing. The role is therefore important at the intersection of technology, operations and business, where you need to be able to understand details but above all keep the whole together.

In the role you will, among other things:

  • design and develop strategy and vision for the heating and cooling business' industrial systems and digitalization

  • contribute to ensuring that plant and investment plans are aligned with the long-term needs of the business

  • develop architecture principles, technical standards and long-term roadmaps

  • enable better use of data for operations, optimization, analysis and decision support

  • contribute to meeting relevant requirements in areas such as NIS2, IEC 62443 and information security

  • be a requirement setter and client in investment and development projects

You will be an important part of the Plant Development team and will have a central role in the entire heating and cooling business. We are facing increased digitization where data, optimization and robust systems will be crucial for the energy systems of the future.

To succeed in the role

You have the ability to create structure in complex environments and do so through close collaboration with others. You see the connections between technology, risk and business and can translate shared insights into clear priorities and long-term choices.

You are strategic, but at the same time have enough understanding of the operational reality to land in solutions that work in everyday life. You thrive in collaboration, build trust in dialog with different functions and are confident in driving issues forward over time.

We believe you have:

  • engineering degree in energy, automation, electrical engineering, industrial IT or other background that we consider equivalent

  • several years of experience in IT/OT in an industrial environment, preferably in the energy, power generation or process industry

  • good understanding of control systems, integrations and plant-related systems

  • experience in driving development, change and structure

  • ability to translate technical issues into risk and business perspectives

  • good collaboration skills and used to working in complex interfaces

  • B driving license is a requirement

It is meritorious if you have experience in, for example, SCADA, DCS, PLC, OT architecture, cybersecurity, information security or asset management.
