Grisbacka School is a pre-K through 6th-grade school located in Grisbacka, one of Umeå’s older neighborhoods. The large schoolyard invites play, games, and physical activity. Nearby are parks, ski trails, and forests. With dedicated and competent staff, confident and motivated students, and strong collaboration with parents and guardians, we take learning seriously. Grisbacka School is one of Umeå Municipality’s training schools, which means that during the school year we host student teachers as part of their practicum program (VFU). We are now looking for an after-school program teacher!

Employment Information

This is a special fixed-term, full-time position, starting as soon as possible by mutual agreement and continuing through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will work in preschool and after-school care. You will also work with individual students on a part-time basis.

Your role as an after-school program teacher is to provide meaningful after-school activities based on the students’ needs, interests, and initiatives, while also inspiring them to make new discoveries. Together with your colleagues, you’ll offer students a variety of approaches, forms of expression, and learning environments where care and learning are integrated. You’ll collaborate with preschool teachers to help students achieve their learning goals. Contact and collaboration with parents and guardians are also an important part of the job.

About You

You are well-versed in the school’s guiding documents and have the ability to adapt instruction and activities based on students’ needs. You are a reassuring adult and a good role model who can connect with students, see each individual, and create a positive learning environment. You motivate students by involving them and encouraging them to contribute their own ideas. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Certified after-school program teacher
• Holds or has applied for a teaching license
• Experience working with groups of children
• Proficiency in spoken and written Swedish
• Valid criminal background check
