Assistant principal to Midgårdsskolan Midgårdsskolan is an upper secondary school in Umeå with approximately 800 students. We offer three college preparatory programs, a vocational program, introduction programs and adapted upper secondary school. Our activities are characterized by security, creativity and high ambitions - both for students and staff. Midgårdsskolan is a place of knowledge and culture, where our keywords Dare, Create, Grow permeate everything we do. We are now looking for an assistant principal for the introduction program, Individual Alternative and the Children and Leisure Program. The Individual Alternative Program (IMA) has between 90 and 130 students. The students have individual study plans and are organized in two teams with their own student health. In the introduction program, students come all year round, which means that it is an organization in constant change where each student has a unique schedule. The assistant principal's task is to support these processes together with the study and career counselor and mentor. Most students leave us for further studies after one year. In the fall of 2026, we are expanding our activities with the Child and Leisure Program, specializing in educational and social work. The program focuses on human needs, development and rights, with pedagogy and social work as central subjects. Creation and problem solving are important elements in all our programs, and through subjects such as music and art, students develop their creative skills and learn to use aesthetic expression as part of the educational and social work. This means that you are responsible, together with the teachers and principal, for starting up and developing Children and Leisure at Midgårdsskolan. It also means starting up and building a work team on the program. Your work tasks As an assistant principal, you work on behalf of the principal and will have delegation of operational management responsibility for the introduction programs and the Children and Leisure program at Midgård. This means that you will lead work teams and have pedagogical development responsibility as well as be responsible for staff, students and student health teams. You are part of Midgård School's management teams and report to the principal. The assignments delegated may change over time and tasks may mean that you as an assistant principal work with different tasks distributed between the Introduction Program and the Child and Leisure Program. Examples of tasks that may occur in the position of Assistant Principal: quality assurance of teaching student health work staff management staff planning, recruitment and rehabilitation performance and salary reviews systematic work environment management As a manager in Umeå municipality, we want you to represent the municipality in a trustworthy and positive way. About you We are looking for you who: have a university degree in education, preferably with a focus on upper secondary education have experience of pedagogical work in introductory programs and vocational programs have completed preparatory recruitment training or internal trainee program It is an advantage if you have previous experience as a manager/school leader. You have good ability to work both independently and in groups. We believe that you are a leader who also has the ability to find new solutions for students and drive school development forward. You are challenging and fearless in your leadership, and your social skills and personal suitability are paramount. You can also naturally switch between operational and strategic tasks, which means you are a doer with vision!
