Type of Employment Full-time

Application due date 26 October 2026
Are you the one?

Working in home care means working closely with people. You become a part of their daily lives and help create a sense of security, independence, and quality of life. At the same time, you’ll have a varied job where no two days are alike.

Your municipal home care service is available throughout the city of Umeå. Every day, we meet people with different needs, wishes, and life situations. Our mission is to provide safe, respectful, and compassionate care that enables older adults to live independently in their own homes. We’re now looking for more staff members for our Parkgatan/Öbacka home care area!

Your Responsibilities

When you work with us in Parkgatan/Öbacka, you’ll be working closely with people in their own homes. We cover a large part of downtown, so you’ll travel between visits by bike, and in some cases, it’s even possible to walk.

With a professional approach and a warm, caring attitude, you’ll assist each person with whatever support they need. We take a person-centered approach and focus on the individual’s strengths—with an emphasis on preserving and strengthening their existing abilities.

Your duties will include, among other things:

  • Personal care and hygiene.
  • Preparing meals, cleaning, and providing social support
  • Documenting care activities and health status.
  • Medical tasks as delegated by the responsible nurse.

You will work closely with colleagues, nurses, and other professionals to ensure high-quality care. Transfer aids are always used when moving or lifting patients.

About You

We’re looking for someone who approaches people with empathy, attentiveness, and a genuine commitment. You thrive in a role where you take responsibility, collaborate with others, and are eager to contribute ideas that help develop the organization and make a real difference. You have a patient approach and a positive demeanor in all situations, even when the pace is fast or conditions change rapidly. The role also involves contact with various government agencies, which means you work in a structured and meticulous manner and are confident in documentation and follow-up. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Pets and smoking may be present in the workplace, so you should not have allergies.

Requirements

  • Experience in the healthcare and social services field, preferably in home care.
  • Very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to ride a bicycle in both summer and winter.

Preferred:

  • Training in healthcare and social care, such as nursing assistant or auxiliary nurse. To be considered for this, you must provide grades or a certificate from the program.

Other Information

  • This is a full-time temporary position, to begin as soon as possible by mutual agreement and continuing through March 31, 2027.
  • Work hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends.
  • We accept applications through our recruitment system—not via email or mail. Click “Apply for the job” to submit your application.
  • Incomplete applications will not be processed. Make sure your resume is up to date, that you answer the screening questions, and that you attach the requested documents.
  • Identification documents will be verified for candidates invited to an interview.
  • Before an offer of employment is made, we will ask you to provide an extract from the police criminal records database. This is the final step in the recruitment process. Please request the extract now so that you can present it upon request: In-home care for the elderly and people with disabilities | Swedish Police Authority

We warmly welcome your application!
