Our administration employs over 1,000 staff members across five different divisions: Real Estate, Streets and Parks, Digital Transformation & IT, Food Services, and Cleaning and Facility Services. We plan, build, and maintain properties, roads, and outdoor environments. We provide transportation services and handle internal assignments to ensure the municipality’s operations run smoothly. For example, we ensure that the IT environment functions properly and is secure, that our facilities are kept clean, and that the municipality’s schools and housing facilities can serve healthy meals. What unites us is our desire to make everyday life easier for Umeå’s more than 130,000 residents.

Meal services in the Municipality of Umeå include the preparation and serving of lunches in preschools, elementary and middle schools, high schools, restaurants, and a number of senior care facilities. Our mission is to provide excellent service and nutritious, healthy meals for our diners and, together with school and care staff, to foster an understanding of the importance of food for good health and well-being. Through public meal services, we contribute to public health and sustainable development.

Berghemsskolan is a preschool through 6th-grade school with approximately 250 students. Adjacent to the school cafeteria is a preschool with four classes, as well as Umeå’s 24-hour preschool, to which we deliver meals daily.

Our newly renovated and well-equipped kitchen provides an excellent environment for inspiring work. The school is just the right size, with happy children, dedicated educators, and close collaboration focused on our diners’ well-being, health, and dining experiences.

Would you like to help create delicious dining experiences for children while becoming part of a dedicated and welcoming team? Then you might be the chef we’re looking for!
