Meal service in Umeå municipality includes the preparation and serving of lunches in both pre-schools and primary schools, upper secondary schools, restaurants and several units in elderly care. The Väst-Tegs kitchen is located in the Väst-Tegs nursing home in Umeå, a newly built nursing home that has opened up for 120 residents since September 2024. The Väst-Teg kitchen has been in operation since May 2024 in newly built and spacious premises and is the kitchen in Umeå that prepares meals for our customers in the home as well as lunch and dinner for our diners in the house every day of the week. We now need to strengthen our team with a proud chef. The team consists of 6 chefs, 2 meal assistants and a chef with operational responsibility. Your main tasks: Plan and prepare tasty meals, including specialty and dietary foods Administering meal orders and managing purchasing, invoices and goods receipt Ensure quality through self-monitoring Keeping the kitchen and equipment in top condition - including washing up and maintenance Have daily contact with colleagues and elderly users, both in the house (West-Teg) and at home Pack and present food in an appealing way in food boxes With us, you will have an important role in a team where care, quality and sustainability are at the center. About you We are looking for you who have a documented chef education or other education that can be considered equivalent. You have previous experience of working in a commercial kitchen and a basic computer habit as you will work with digital tools when ordering and administration. Furthermore, you have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing, to ensure clear and safe communication and routines. We would like to see that you have training in consistency-adapted nutrition, meals aimed at an older target group and cooking in public activities. As a person, you are structured and have good collaboration skills. In your work, you take responsibility and take the initiative for continuous improvement. Of course, you have a genuine interest in food. You have good communication skills and a professional approach to colleagues, partners and those we serve - our elderly. Working hours are during the day, working every third weekend.
