
Aftonstjärnan in Berghem offers care during non-standard hours to parents or guardians whose children are enrolled in municipal or independent preschool and after-school programs, as well as educational care, in the municipality of Umeå. The facility accepts children from age one through the spring semester of the year the child turns 13. Aftonstjärnan’s hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., and Friday from 5:00 p.m. through Monday at 7:30 a.m. Our goal is to offer a safe and stimulating environment where social interaction is based on a positive spirit. We offer the children meaningful leisure time, where they can play and develop together with others in a safe setting. Activities and play are tailored to the children’s ages and interests.

This is a permanent, part-time (75%) position, to begin as soon as possible by mutual agreement.
Your Responsibilities
Your role at Aftonstjärnan is to guide and challenge children aged 1–13. The program focuses on providing care in a safe environment during evenings, nights, and weekends. Staff are expected to provide meaningful leisure activities and act as a substitute for guardians during non-standard working hours. Applicants must be flexible and interested in cooking and everyday chores.
Communication and collaboration with guardians are an important part of the job. You must be able to work weekday evenings, weekends, and nights. At night, you’ll sleep with the children at the facility.

You recognize the importance of peer learning and the value of family involvement, and you have a strong ability to interact and collaborate with children and adults. You are a curious and dedicated team player who brings enthusiasm to your work. You are able to recognize the benefits of differences among children and adults, as well as different ways of thinking and acting. An exploratory approach is important, as it allows children to participate in the exploration with their own suggestions, theories, and expressions. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
