Job position Information/Communication Officer
Work model On location
Application due date 25 January 2026
Are you the one? Our administration employs more than 1 000 people in five different activities: Real Estate, Streets and Parks, Digital Transformation and IT, Food Services and Cleaning and Operations Services.
We plan, build and maintain properties, roads, parks and other outdoor environments. We provide transport services and handle internal assignments to keep the municipality's operations running smoothly. For example, we ensure that the IT environment works and is secure, that our premises are kept clean and that the municipality's schools and homes can serve healthy meals. What unites us is the desire to make everyday life easier for Umeå's 130,000-plus residents.
We are a team of four key communicators and a communications manager in the Technical and Property Administration's communications unit. We work on creating external communications that explain to citizens and other target groups how we turn tax money into concrete improvements and innovations in our city. We also work on internal communication to strengthen the employer brand and create a cohesive and efficient administration.
Are you a solution-focused and committed communicator who wants to make a difference in an exciting and important business? One of us is about to go on parental leave, so we are looking for a substitute communicator who wants to help improve the city!
Your tasks
As a communicator with us, you will be an important part of our team, where you, with the help of our communication guidelines and together with your colleagues, create the conditions for proactive, accessible and targeted communication that makes a difference - both externally and internally.
You will help the Technical and Property Administration to put the recipient at the center with clear, targeted and accessible communication, regardless of the channel we use. Your role is both operational and strategic, which means that you identify communication needs and find creative solutions - both on your own, in collaboration with colleagues in the operations, your communication colleagues in the communication unit and in the rest of the municipal organization.
You will work with, among others:
Being a creative and forward-thinking communication partner who identifies communication needs based on mission and objectives, acts as a strategic and tactical sounding board, proposes and creates solutions and outputs.
Writing, photographing, filming and designing what needs to be produced to reach out.
Channels such as web, intranet, social media and press releases.
About you
We are looking for you who have a degree in media and communication science or equivalent post-secondary education we consider relevant to the assignment. You have experience of working with communication support, preferably in the public sector. You have good knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft 365. Experience of working with Ads Manager and in CMS systems is an advantage. If you are good at photography and moving images, this is also a plus. You have a B-driver's license to be able to get between different businesses and locations. The position requires excellent Swedish language skills.
To succeed in the role, you will need to have a good ability to work in a structured way and to plan your work effectively. Since the work involves contacts both internally and externally, it is also important that you have good collaboration skills, are communicative and educational, and always try to create the best possible meeting with those you meet in your work. You have the ability to lead, drive and follow up the communication process and you strive to develop the work. To succeed, you need to be able to manage several tasks in parallel, sometimes within tight deadlines. Therefore, personal suitability is highly valued for this position.
