Umeå is a city on the rise—with new neighborhoods, exciting projects, and a clear goal of sustainable growth. Within the Real Estate division, we are responsible for acquiring, managing, and divesting properties for municipal operations. Today, we manage just over one million square meters of space, including schools, healthcare and social services facilities, and cultural and recreational facilities. The Construction Services department repairs, builds new structures, adds extensions, and adapts facilities to meet the needs of the municipality’s operations. Together, we work every day to create a safe, secure, and well-functioning city.

We are now looking for a temporary carpenter who is interested in contributing to positive community development within the Municipality of Umeå!

Your Responsibilities

As a carpenter with us, you’ll have a varied and independent role working on the municipality’s properties, where you’ll make a difference in the daily lives of many people. Your focus will be on quality and on ensuring that our facility users feel safe and satisfied with the work we perform.

The role includes, among other things:

• Performing carpentry assignments of various sizes—from small jobs to larger renovation and maintenance projects.
• Independently planning, carrying out, and following up on your assignments.
• Collaborating with colleagues and departments to find the best solutions.
• Contributing to the development of work methods and being part of our collective improvement efforts.

About You

We’re looking for a skilled carpenter who wants to contribute both their expertise and their dedication. You are professional in your interactions, enjoy working independently, but also recognize the value of collaborating and sharing knowledge with others.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• High school education in construction and civil engineering, or other post-secondary education/experience, as well as a vocational certificate as a carpenter or woodworker.
• Several years of experience as a professional carpenter.
• A Class B driver’s license to travel between different properties.
• Training in areas such as scaffolding, aerial lifts, fall protection, or hot work is considered a plus.

To succeed in this role, you also need to:

• Have strong communication skills and be able to provide clear feedback.
• Be service-oriented and maintain a professional attitude.
• Be able to handle physically demanding tasks, as the job involves heavy lifting.

Additional Information

This is a full-time temporary position, from August 31, 2026, through May 26, 2028.

This role often involves working with children and youth, so a criminal background check may be required before employment begins.
