The Educational Support Teams are a resource within Student Health Services for students and staff in elementary school, from preschool through 9th grade, and consist of the program director, seven special education teachers, and a psychologist. The support teams work on preventive and health-promoting initiatives as well as in challenging school situations. The teams can provide support regarding, among other things, the learning environment and overall classroom structures. They offer professional development and workshops on various topics, as well as individual coaching for educators.
The support teams work on behalf of the school principal for short periods, and their assignments are carried out at the student’s current school. Together with the principal, educators, and the student health team, an action plan can be developed at the individual, group, and school-wide levels to find long-term, sustainable solutions. The interventions are tailored to the nature of the assignment and are entirely dependent on the current situation.

Your Responsibilities

The support teams provide assistance regarding the learning environment, overall classroom structures, teaching methods, and other professional development initiatives. The work takes place at the individual, group, and school unit levels.
The support teams work on behalf of the school principal for shorter periods of time, and the assignments are carried out at the existing school. Together with the principal, teachers, and the local student health services, an action plan is developed at the individual, group, and school unit levels to find long-term, sustainable solutions. The interventions are tailored to the nature of the assignment and are entirely dependent on the current situation.
Your workplace is at Umestan, but a large part of your work takes place at the schools.
About You
We are looking for someone who is a trained special education teacher or educator with advanced expertise in educational leadership, as well as additional knowledge and interest in the field of student health services. You must have teaching experience in elementary school and solid experience working with students who need special support. You also need to have experience with and the ability to adopt a consultative approach and/or provide guidance to educators.
To succeed in this role, you must be passionate about working with students with special needs and have the ability to build strong relationships. You have a solution-focused approach and strong empathy. Even in high-pressure situations, you remain calm and professional. Another important requirement is that you have a humble and unpretentious approach toward children, guardians, and staff/collaborating partners. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
In accordance with the Act on Suitability Checks, an extract from the police criminal records must be presented upon hiring. The position also requires fluent proficiency in spoken and written Swedish.
