Flurkmark School is situated in a scenic location, 2 mil northwest of Umeå. The school has just over 70 students from preschool through sixth grade. There is close collaboration between the school and the after-school program. Work on core values and traditions are valuable elements of our program. Hissjö School is situated in a scenic location, 14 kilometers northwest of Umeå. The school has just over one hundred students from preschool through sixth grade. There is close collaboration between the school and the after-school program. Work on core values and traditions are valuable elements of the school’s activities. Hissjö School strives to be a place characterized by joy, security, and well-being. A place where all children and students can develop to their fullest potential, both socially and academically, and have confidence in their own abilities.

Tavelsjö School is located on the western shore of Lake Tavelsjön. The school is close to forests and meadows in a pleasant and friendly setting in the heart of the village. The school has 145 students from preschool through 6th grade and approximately 85 children enrolled in after-school care. The school is characterized by a democratic environment and strong collaboration.

Employment Information

This is a permanent, part-time (60%) position starting August 11, 2026. Full-time employment is available if you are qualified and wish to work 40% in the middle school at Flurkmarks School.

The workweek is structured as follows:

• One workday at Tavelsjö School
• One workday at Hissjö School
• Three workdays at Flurkmark School (one day if you teach only music)

Your Responsibilities

You will plan and conduct music lessons for our students in grades 1–6. In collaboration with your work team and colleagues, you will be responsible for leading and developing educational initiatives, using the curriculum and municipal goals as a guide. Communication and collaboration with parents are an important part of the job.

You are a clear leader in the classroom with the ability to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive

learning environment, structure, and context for all students. You are well-versed in the school’s governing documents. You

differentiate and vary your instruction based on students’ needs. You share your knowledge and experiences to contribute to collegial learning. An important part of the teaching role is building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Certified elementary school teacher with a teaching credential in music
• Possesses or has applied for a teaching license
• Experience teaching music in elementary and middle school
• Fluency in spoken and written Swedish, as well as a good command of English
• Valid criminal background check
• Class B driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
