Storsjöskolan grades 4–9is located in Holmsund, 1.5 mil outside of Umeå. Holmsund is situated in the archipelago, which offers many beautiful natural settings and places to visit. We are a growing community, and the number of students is increasing every year. At Storsjöskolan, we have many knowledgeable and dedicated educators who work to help our students achieve their goals. Storsjöskolan is one of Umeå Municipality’s training schools, which means that during the school year, we host student teachers as part of their practical training program (VFU).

Employment Information

This is a special full-time, fixed-term position, to begin as soon as possible by mutual agreement and continuing through December 18, 2026.

Your Responsibilities

In this position, you will work as a substitute teacher at the school, teaching social studies and Swedish. Your role as an elementary school teacher is to plan and conduct lessons as a homeroom teacher based on the curriculum, as well as to engage in broader planning together with colleagues. You will, both individually and in collaboration with colleagues, monitor, evaluate, and analyze instruction, as well as assess and document students’ academic progress. You are responsible for creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that helps students achieve their goals. As a teacher, you are responsible for informing students and their guardians about the students’ academic progress.

About You

You are a clear leader in the classroom with the ability to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, as well as structure and context for all students. You are well-versed in the school’s guiding documents. You differentiate and vary your instruction based on students’ needs. You share your knowledge and experiences to contribute to professional learning among colleagues. An important part of the teaching role is building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Certified elementary school teacher qualified to teach grades 4–6
• Holds or has applied for a teaching license
• Experience working in a school
• Fluency in spoken and written Swedish, as well as a good command of English
• Valid criminal background check
