Carlslundsskolan is a new middle school that opened in the fall semester of 2024 in the Carlslund neighborhood. The municipality’s adapted elementary school for grades 7–9 is an integral part of the school. Carlslundsskolan is one of Umeå Municipality’s training schools, which means that during the school year, it hosts student teachers as part of their field-based training (VFU).

We are now looking for a dedicated German and English teacher who wants to help our students develop their language skills!

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will teach German and English to grades 6–9 and serve as a mentor for 8th graders. Your role as an elementary school teacher is to plan lessons based on the curriculum, as well as to engage in broader planning with colleagues. You will, both individually and with colleagues, monitor, evaluate, and analyze instruction, as well as assess and document students’ academic progress. You are responsible for creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that helps students achieve their learning goals. As a teacher, you are responsible for keeping students and their guardians informed about the students’ academic progress.

About You

You are a clear leader in the classroom with the ability to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, as well as structure and context for all students. You are well-versed in the school’s guiding documents. You differentiate and vary your instruction based on students’ needs. You share your knowledge and experience to contribute to collegial learning. An important part of the teaching role is building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Teaching certification and qualification to teach German and English for grades 7–9.
• Experience teaching at the middle school level, including grading.
• Valid criminal background check.
• Good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

Employment Type

This is a temporary position, part-time (70%), from October 26, 2026, through June 14, 2027.
