Are you the one?

Do you want to be involved in developing Umeå municipality's work with civil preparedness? We are now looking for a committed and development-oriented emergency preparedness coordinator who wants to contribute to strengthening the municipality's resilience.

The Umeå Region Fire Department includes Umeå, Vindeln and Robertsfors municipalities. We work with preventive fire protection and rescue services for about 140,000 people in one of the most expansive parts of Sweden.

The fire defense has a full-time station in central Umeå with about 80 employees and nine RiB stations with about 150 firefighters on standby as well as two fire guards. We are also building another full-time station in Umeå, which is expected to be completed in 2028, and in connection with this we will also grow in the number of employees. Together with 16 other municipalities in Norrbotten and Västerbotten, we are part of the joint rescue management system Räddningssamverkan Nord.

Your tasks

As an emergency response coordinator at the Umeå Region Fire Department, you will mainly work with operational protection, continuity planning, population protection and preparations for societal disruptions, heightened alert and war. In your work, you will be an important link to the municipality's other activities as well as other collaborating actors such as the county administrative board, the defense force and other municipal and state authorities.

Mainly, you work office hours where you drive, develop and follow up your work areas and the tasks for which you are responsible. As parts of the working hours can be carried out remotely, opportunities open up for those who want to be resident in a place other than in the immediate vicinity of Umeå.

Depending on your conditions and opportunities, it may eventually be relevant to combine the work with other suitable tasks within the fire defense's area of activity.

About you

We are looking for you who have a suitable university or college degree in social sciences, political science, risk management, crisis preparedness, community safety or other relevant education or experience that the employer considers relevant to the task. Experience of working with continuity planning and crisis and war organization is an advantage.

To succeed in the role of emergency preparedness coordinator, you need to be driven, structured and responsible. You are analytical, have good problem-solving skills and thrive in a role where you get to combine coordination, development work and efforts that translate plans into action.

We value your pedagogical skills and your ability to understand perspectives, as well as your willingness to actively contribute to developing our operations. You thrive in the coordinator role and are good at creating and maintaining good relationships. You have good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing.

Strong emphasis will be placed on personal qualities

We hope and believe that you want to contribute to our joint work going forward. Welcome with your application!
