Are you the one?
Umeå municipality is investing in sustainable growth and strengthening environmental and sustainability work. We are now looking for an environmental inspector who wants to contribute to creating a sustainable environment for all residents. With us, you will be part of a team at the environmental and health protection department, where we make a difference together. We work on the basis of the municipality's development strategy for water and wastewater - a long-term plan to ensure good water status, secure drinking water supplies and create cost-effective, sustainable wastewater solutions. One of the elements of the strategy is a plan for individual wastewater management with the aim of ensuring that all individual sewers in the municipality meet the applicable treatment requirements under the Environmental Code by 2032. Supervision of small sewers is therefore a central part of our work. The unit is divided into two working groups: one that works with supervision and one that works with examination, processing of notifications, applications and exemptions. You will initially be part of the group responsible for testing, with the possibility of changing working groups in the future. About the position As an Environmental Inspector you will: Process notifications, applications and exemptions related to small sewers. Handle inspection cases. Carry out inspection visits to small sewers. Provide advice and service to private individuals and entrepreneurs by telephone, during inspection visits and at information meetings. Participating in quality work, developing inspection methodology, procedures and information material. You work in a team that specializes in small sewers, where cooperation and knowledge exchange are a natural part of everyday life. As an environmental inspector, you work individually, but also closely with your colleagues. Who are we looking for? You have: Higher education in environmental and health protection or equivalent. Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. B driving license. It is an advantage if you have experience of supervision and testing under the Environmental Code, especially in small sewers. We attach great importance to your personal qualities and suitability. We are looking for you who have a good ability to plan and prioritize your work to deliver the right quality at the right time. You also need to be confident in making decisions and dealing with complex issues. As the work involves many social contacts with private individuals and entrepreneurs, it is important that you are communicative and service-oriented. You are curious and eager to learn new things. In your work, you like to see opportunities for solutions and development. You thrive on working at a fast pace and working on different tasks at the same time. You are good at building relationships, collaborate easily and see the value in delivering quality together with others. Why choose us? With us you get: Meaningful work where you make a difference to the environment and human health. The opportunity to influence and develop working methods. A team that supports and inspires each other. Benefits such as flexible working hours, the opportunity to work remotely and wellness allowance. Find out more.
