At the Environment and Health Protection Department, we work to ensure that everyone in Umeå municipality lives in a healthy environment and that Umeå's growth targets are met with social, ecological, cultural and economic sustainability. We work in collaboration with others to ensure that the municipality and various operators take environmental and health protection issues into account in community planning and in day-to-day operations. We actively participate in the development of overall strategy and target documents in the environmental field and run several different environmental and climate projects. We are now looking for a new colleague for the Environmental Development unit, which is one of several units in the Environmental and Health Protection Department at the Urban Planning Administration. About the job As an Environmental Planning Officer, you will be part of a team with an important mission to promote sustainable development with a particular focus on environmental issues in spatial planning. The role includes: Providing planning documentation and analysis in the field of environmental, nature and health protection and monitoring environmental, nature and health impacts Participate in working groups in community planning such as detailed planning, master planning and building permit cases Produce documentation for needs assessments and environmental impact assessments. Work with development work and follow-up of the goals and steering documents of the business Processing of cases, opinions and referrals in the environmental field Provide information and decision support to the Environmental and Health Protection Board An important part of the role is to work to ensure that environmental, nature and health protection issues are integrated into community planning and to work with information and knowledge dissemination to the municipality's citizens and collaborate in networks, locally, regionally and nationally. About you To succeed and thrive in the role of environmental planning officer, you should have good communication skills in speech and writing in Swedish and you have the ability to present constructive views based on facts and clear documentation. You enjoy working both independently and together with colleagues to achieve common goals. You are responsive, collaborative and have a development-oriented and solution-focused approach. You should also have a good ability to plan and prioritize among different tasks and you enjoy handling several tasks in parallel. We want you to have: Several years of experience working with the Environmental Code and the Planning and Building Act, as well as other relevant legislation. Several years of experience of working with community planning from an environmental and nature perspective B driving license. A university/college degree with a natural science focus, or other education at university/college level that the employer considers relevant to the position.
