Finnish mother tongue teacher, Center of Excellence for Multilingualism Type of Employment Part-time
Job position Native language teachers in primary schools
Work model On location
Application due date 31 May 2025
Are you the one? Do you speak Finnish?
The Center of Excellence for Multilingualism is looking for a colleague in Finnish.
If you speak Finnish and have experience of working with children and young people, you may want to become our new colleague. Ideally, you have a pedagogical teacher training in preschool or school.
Your tasks
Together with other mother tongue teachers, you will teach Finnish to pupils from preschool class to year 9. Students receive 120 minutes of instruction each week. Pupils are taught in the pupil's home school from preschool class up to year 3. From year 4, pupils may be taught in another school. We offer a bus pass for travel between schools. Distance teaching can be included in the service within the municipality's peripheral schools for pupils from year 2. The work as a mother tongue teacher includes planning, implementation, grading and evaluation of the teaching you carry out based on the Swedish curriculum.
You are never alone as we work together to develop teaching based on our three key words language, culture and identity within the framework of our Language Hub; a language hub that brings together the national minority languages from the small child to the almost adult.
Umeå. WANT MORE.
Umeå municipality WANTS MORE when it comes to the development of Finnish language teaching, especially with a focus on preschool and younger children. Together we have started a longer development work based on finding successful language models for teaching in and on the national minority language for both first and second language learners.
About you
If you speak and write Finnish, want to work with children and young people, have experience in pedagogical work and education and are curious to know more about us and our activities, do not hesitate to contact one of us. We would love to have a new colleague for our children and students who want nothing more than to continue developing their language, culture and identity.
You are very welcome!
