The Umeå Region Fire Department serves the municipalities of Umeå, Vindeln, and Robertsfors. We focus on preventive fire safety measures, rescue operations, and public safety. Rescue missions vary and can range from fires and traffic accidents to providing first aid.
We are currently in an exciting phase where we are building another full-time station in Umeå, and as part of this, we will also be expanding our staff. We’re planning to fill a large number of permanent positions in the coming years, and a summer temporary position is a great way to start your journey with us. Whether you’re just starting your career or are further along and looking to change paths, there are great opportunities to become part of our future organization. Ahead of next summer, we’re now looking for people interested in exciting and varied work with the fire department!
You’ll have interesting responsibilities and enjoy an unbeatable sense of community within your team, but above all, you’ll be fulfilling a vital role in society. Since we know that diversity enriches our organization, we hope to receive applications from employees with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
Your Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- minimize harm to people, property, and the environment during rescue operations
- prevent accidents through, among other things, external training and public awareness campaigns
- perform operational and maintenance work
- participate in and lead drills for emergency response personnel
About You
Since our emergency response teams often encounter complex situations, you must be a confident and steady individual. We are looking for someone with a strong sense of commitment and a natural aptitude for providing service-oriented and respectful interactions. Teamwork and problem-solving are among the qualities we highly value and need within a team. Great importance is placed on your personal qualities.
To apply for this position, you must have at least a high school diploma and a Class B driver’s license, as well as good physical fitness and the ability to swim. You must be able to communicate in Swedish, and proficiency in other languages is also a plus. We view SMO training and a Class C driver’s license favorably when you apply, but they are not required.
On the Umeå Municipality website, umea.se/blibrandman, you can read about how the recruitment process will work.
