Carlshöjdsskolan is located in a quiet area, close to forests and green spaces. Here, all students receive instruction in outdoor education. The school is a multicultural elementary school (grades F–6) and a special education school. It is well-equipped and accessible for students with disabilities. Approximately 400 students attend the school, and the staff is divided into six teams. Our well-trained and dedicated teachers work to ensure that all students feel comfortable at school and succeed in their studies.

Employment Information

• Two permanent, full-time positions, starting as soon as possible by mutual agreement. 
• One special fixed-term position, full-time, starting as soon as possible by mutual agreement through June 30, 2027.
• One special fixed-term position, part-time (75%), starting as soon as possible by mutual agreement through June 30, 2027.
• Several positions for intermittent employment (on an as-needed basis).

Your Responsibilities

You will work as a support staff member in a special education elementary school classroom alongside other support staff and teachers. As a support staff member in a special education elementary school, you will be present in the classroom to support students in their learning, help them develop their language skills, foster a sense of engagement, and promote autonomy (the right to self-determination).

You will help students gain the ability to participate in collaborative learning, in various instructional situations, within the peer group, as well as in everyday activities and in society. You will work closely with your team and other educators at the school. Your duties may include providing students with the support they need in all learning situations, both in the classroom and in other areas of the school. This also includes assisting students during mealtimes and bathroom breaks. The role also includes accompanying students and providing support during swimming lessons.

The job may involve physically demanding tasks.

You are a reassuring adult and a good role model. You also have the ability to connect with students. You see each individual, create a safe environment at school, and collaborate with others to achieve set goals. As a person, you are flexible, clear, and organized. You enjoy working with children who need special support, as you play a very important role in their school day.

You have strong collaboration skills, are responsive, and find it easy to communicate and work together with students and other key professionals serving this target group. You have strong collaboration skills and maintain a professional demeanor toward the children, their families, and other stakeholders involved with the students. Requirements

• Certified residential counselor, assistant, or childcare worker
• Experience working with children with intellectual disabilities
• Good spoken and written proficiency in Swedish
• Valid criminal background check, in accordance with the Act on Suitability Checks

Desirable

• Knowledge of TAKK/AKK and accessible learning environments
• Experience working with students with epilepsy and/or autism
• Experience with lifting aids
• Experience with low-affect responses in threatening and violent situations
• Experience working with children or adults who act out
