Group leader for Support and care, Authority exercise, Income support Type of Employment Full-time
Job position Group leader in social services
Work model On location
Application due date 17 August 2025
Are you the one? Do you want the opportunity to combine leadership with an important and socially beneficial task - investigating and preventing incorrect payments of income support?
The Income Support Unit works with families and individuals who apply for financial assistance to help them support themselves.
We provide information on rights and obligations and investigate the right to financial assistance. We work in various ways, in collaboration with internal and external actors, to help the individual to manage their own livelihood as soon as possible.
The unit is divided into three groups; Pre-assessment (FF), Slussen and Rehab. Approximately 40 social workers work here with an overall division towards internal and external collaboration. The unit has two heads of unit.
We are now looking for two group leaders for income support who will provide support and guidance to our social secretaries. The service will be combined with the fact that you will also work as a FUT officer (incorrect payments) within income support. The assignments will be divided 50/50.
Your work tasks
The role of group leader/FUT caseworker is new to the unit. However, the role of group leader exists in other units within the exercise of authority in Umeå municipality. As the assignment is new within the unit, there are great opportunities to design the role together with your group leader colleague at the unit and unit managers.
In the assignment as a group leader, you will guide and develop our social workers in their daily work towards independence, both as a group and as an individual. The assignment means that you, together with the head of unit, lead and distribute the operational work and drive the development of the unit. As a group leader, you will provide our social workers with qualified support and guidance in their cases, based on legislation, guidelines and values. The assignment also includes monitoring the field of income support and other issues that may affect the work and design of the unit. As a group leader, you are expected to contribute to a common understanding of goals and results to achieve goal fulfillment and work for collaboration both internally and externally.
In the assignment as FUT administrator, you will investigate cases with suspicions of incorrect payments of income support. It is only suspicion of incorrect payment that you investigate and pursue, so you do not have your own ongoing income support cases. This also includes monitoring the business environment and working together with unit managers and social secretaries to develop routines and working methods that ensure that the municipality's income support is not exposed to welfare crime.
As a group leader, you are also part of a group together with other group leaders in the exercise of authority. You report to the head of the unit.
About you
We are looking for you who have a social worker's degree with several years of experience of working with income support in the exercise of authority. It is an advantage if you have experience of leading/coordinating employees in processes and change work. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.
We are looking for you who are a confident and communicative person who is easy to collaborate at all levels. You need to be able to prioritize both your own and your colleagues' work and be able to handle different situations in a calm and trustworthy manner. You see opportunities and think innovatively when needed, while protecting what already works well.
We attach great importance to your personal qualities.
Welcome with your application!
