Umeåregionens brandförsvar is responsible for rescue services and accident prevention in the municipalities of Umeå, Vindeln and Robertsfors. We are a socially important actor with a broad mission - from fires and traffic accidents to medical emergencies and suicide events. Together with 16 other municipalities, we are part of Räddningssamverkan Nord, a joint rescue management system in Norrbotten and Västerbotten. We are currently in an exciting development phase where we are going from one to two full-time stations in Umeå city and expanding our workforce significantly in the coming years. In addition to full-time stations, there are nine fire stations staffed by Rescue Service personnel on standby (RiB) - also called part-time firefighters. We are now looking for a dedicated manager for this vital part of our organization, with responsibility for around 150 employees. Are you the person we are looking for? About the job As Head of RiB operations, you play a central role in our organization and you lead our largest staff group, both in terms of numbers and geographical area. You are responsible for ensuring operational readiness, development, long-term capability and that operations are conducted efficiently and in accordance with applicable rules and guidelines. Organizationally, you are directly subordinate to the Operational Manager and, depending on suitability and previous experience, there may also be the opportunity to be part of one of the fire defense's overall command functions. The work is mainly done during office hours where you drive, develop and follow up work areas and tasks. The role includes, among other things: Responsible for budget and follow-up for your part of the business. Ensuring staffing through a well-functioning staff supply and long-term business planning and development. Ensuring the capability of the RiB operations through well-structured training and exercise activities. Be part of the strategic development of the fire service Dialogue with main employers, governmental authorities and represent the fire service both internally and externally. Work closely with the heads of our full-time organization and station coordinators to ensure our joint capabilities and operational planning. Lead and drive the work together with several coordinators with different responsibilities. The managerial role is challenging and flexible, you get to work with both quality and personnel issues and you have the opportunity to influence developments in the field. About you We are looking for you with great commitment, drive and desire to develop and improve our business with employees and citizens in focus. As a manager, you are confident and have the courage to handle challenging situations. Your leadership is characterized by commitment, clear communication and decisiveness. We are looking for you with a good understanding of, and experience in, municipal rescue services. It is an advantage if you have experience, in some form, from RiB operations. We would like to see that you have experience in project management, but it is not a requirement. A B driving license is a requirement.
